This morning we stopped by The Farm Shopping Center’s Saturday Market to peruse the produce and local wares before heading out to talk to voters. Friends of House District 79, this is fresh and local goods, right in our back yard. We picked up cucumbers and some salsa. Someone beat us to the tomatoes, though! Small business is the backbone of our community. Shop local!

We had the opportunity to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the naming of Pride Street this morning. To quote one of the speakers: “Whenever everyone in a community feels welcomed, respected and loved, the community as a whole is healthier.”

We have the cutest constituents!
Tomorrow’s Wonder Women. I took this photo last year. I was struck in particular by the scene of two young Safety Patrol students, standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. They seemed so full of hope and purpose. What will they become? I am thankful to live in a country where the decision is theirs for the making.

One of the best parts of running for office is getting to talk to the people of House District 79. Voters are engaged, informed, and sending a clear message about the issues that matter to them: education funding, health care, and criminal justice reform.
